- 英国最大の冤罪、富士通を糾弾 システム欠陥で数百人汚名 ｜ 共同通信
（2024/1/10） 【ロンドン共同】富士通の郵便事業者向け会計システムの欠陥により、数百人が不正会計や横領罪で訴追された英史上最大規模の冤罪事件があり、政府内で富士通を糾弾する声が高まっている。補償金の支払いや、政府が結んでいる同社との契約見直しを求める意見が噴出。英下院委員会は16日に富士通幹部を呼び、証言を要請すると決めた。
英国では、郵便会社とフランチャイズ契約を結んだ民間事業者が地域の窓口業務を請け負っている。ロイター通信によると、1999～2015年に窓口の現金と会計システム上の残高に齟齬があるなどとして、事業者らが刑事訴追された。多額の弁済を強いられて破産したケースや自殺した人もいたという。
しかし19年に裁判所がシステムの欠陥を認定。一部の有罪判決が覆され、昨年12月までに補償金として総額1億2470万ポンド（約229億3300万円）が支払われた。だが・・・・

UK police have opened a fraud investigation into Britain’s Post Office over a miscarriage of justice that saw hundreds of postmasters wrongfully accused of stealing money when a faulty computer system was to blame.The Metropolitan Police force said late Friday that it is investigating “potential fraud offenses arising out of these prosecutions,” relating to money the Post Office received “as a result of prosecutions or civil actions” against accused postal workers.Police also are investigating potential offenses of perjury and perverting the course of justice over investigations and prosecutions carried out by the Post Office.Between 1999 and 2015, more than 700 post office branch managers were accused of theft or fraud because computers wrongly showed that money was missing. Many were financially ruined after being forced to pay large sums to the company, and some were convicted and sent to prison. Several killed themselves.
